Summer 2024: ArtsAbly in Europe
|
|
During ArtsAbly's summer break, Diane Kolin, the founder of ArtsAbly, spent time at the organ festival of St. Laurenzen in Saint-Gallen, Switzerland. As a singer, she performed with the pianist, organist and composer Bernhard Ruchti. As a musicologist, she interviewed some of the guest artists who gave recitals during the festival. You can watch the concert and the interviews on ArtsAbly's webiste.

Crip Livelihoods is a series of free online creative skills workshops designed by and for Deaf and Disabled artists. These accessible sessions will cover a range of topics, including how to craft captivating stories, understanding your rights as a Deaf or Disabled artist, and learning to advocate for yourself. Zimmerli Introduces New Works By 14 International Artists Who Examine Accessibility In The Museum World
|
This fall, expand your understanding and perception of accessibility through Smoke & Mirrors, opening Sept. 4, 2024, at the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University—New Brunswick. This major exhibition features the work of 14 artists with disabilities from across the globe who conceptualize access through humor, antagonism, transparency, and invisibility.

Touchstone Theatre's Festival UnBound explores disability and the arts, accessibility access
|
Using their wheelchairs, artists Alice Sheppard and Laurel Lawson demonstrated movements they will showcase during a performance at Zoellner Arts Center. Sheppard and Lawson are part of the disability arts ensemble, Kinetic Light, whose work is made by and for disabled people. The pair led two workshops for about 30 people at DeSales University on Wednesday — three days before they take the stage at Zoellner Arts Center as part of Touchstone Theatre's Festival UnBound.
